Good morning, Electrica fam.
I want to talk about mindset for a quick second.
Over the past month, we’ve done a lot of Goal Reviews and Game Plan Sessions. I’ve had conversations with dozens of people, and one theme keeps popping up:
“I just can’t train consistently. Life gets in the way.”
And honestly… that’s true. Life does get in the way.
But I’ve noticed something interesting.
Most people don’t just struggle with time — they struggle with expectations.
They have a picture in their head of what a “real” workout is supposed to look like:
A certain time. A certain length. A certain level of intensity.
And then… chaos happens.
Kids need something. Work runs late. Energy drops. Something unexpected pops up. The plan falls apart.
So instead of adjusting, a lot of people choose option B:
“Never mind. I’ll just skip it.”
But training — and living an active lifestyle — doesn’t need to be perfect to be effective.
Doing something is leaps and bounds better than doing nothing.
Maybe you planned a 30-minute workout, but the kids interrupt you.
Cool.
Instead, accumulate 100 air squats throughout the day and move on.
If you’ve never randomly knocked out 10 air squats in your living room… you should try it 😂
It’s more powerful than it sounds.
A quick story about my mom
Yesterday I met with my mom to do an InBody scan and talk about how she could increase her muscle mass and continue lowering her body fat.
Her biggest opportunity?
Training more consistently.
Like a lot of people, she didn’t know where to start. She had a ton of questions. And those questions eventually led to… no action at all.
So I kept it simple.
I had her do 1 minute of squats to a chair.
That’s it.
She was shocked at how hard it felt.
It took one minute.
And it was probably the most exercise she’s done in a while.
I told her to do it again tomorrow.
Then, when that feels easier, do two rounds:
- 1 minute of squats
- 1 minute of rest
She asked me, “How many times should I do it?”
I said:
“It doesn’t matter that much. Just make sure it’s more than zero.”
We wait for perfect
We wait for the perfect time window.
The perfect plan.
The perfect energy.
The perfect conditions.
Meanwhile, we could’ve already done one minute of squats.
Take a moment and think about the last time you skipped a workout because things didn’t go according to plan.
The next time you’re deciding between skipping it altogether…
or doing one imperfect minute of movement…
I hope you choose the squats.
